Tomorrow scouting locations in San Francisco and La Mar at the Embarcadero

Tomorrow we are heading to the city to scout out locations for our Northern California Stout
Burgers and Beers location.  Of course no trip to nor Cal would be complete without stops at some incredible restaurants.  So the plans are La Mar Peruvian food tomorrow and Vik's Chaat Indian street food on Thursday.  I have to say that Vik's is one of my favorite places in Nor Cal especially since my extended family knows all the ins and outs of this type of cuisine.  I know that its going to be a little bit of a challenge eating there and adhering to my low carb guidelines but Im always up for a challenge that involves eating delicious foods.

I cant believe its almost 2012, so here it goes.  I want to end 2012 married... with 5 Stouts open and operating. Two shows on television at least one in production and my novel finished and published...Im not sure exactly how to quantify my fitness goals with The Cheat Day Diet but Im sure one day next year Ill look in the mirror and know that Ive arrived.

Well im heading to bed, long day tomorrow and I want to hit the gym first thing in the am.  Night everyone, happy dieting!

Ruth's Chris...Muscle Milk and Wholefoods Fresh Veggie Juice.

I must say Im truly enjoying the beautiful crisp weather up here in Northern California.  Today we relaxed around the house and caught up on some emails and phone calls regarding Stout Burgers and Beers.  I managed to sneak into a local 24 Hour Fitness which was one of the nicest gyms I have been to in a long time.  I decided today that I'm going to add a FAQ section to the blog.  Ive been getting a fair amount of questions : Do you eat fruit? Do you drink alcohol? Do you go to the gym on a regular basis? amongst many others.  So if you happen to have any questions feel free to shoot them to me and Ill try to answer them.  We had dinner at Ruth's Chris in Walnut Creek which was absolutely amazing?  I had a petite filet with a side of mushrooms and spinach, the steak was fairly small but by the time you eat the sides you realize you dont need a pound of meat to be satisfied.  I finished the meal of with a decaf coffee, not as tasty as the hot apple pie that everyone else was enjoying but still a nice way to end a delicious dinner.  Okay well Im of to put together my proposal for tomorrow regarding the expansion of Stout into Northern Cal.  I hope everyone is enjoying the end of the year and planning for a fabulous 2012.  Happy dieting everyone.

Eggs Sausage Bacon Muffins...Virgin America...Starbucks and San Francisco

So I woke up this morning to my niece peeking her little head through the door to wake me up.  This was only her second Christmas so we all marched through to the tree to watch her rip apart packages completely confused as to what was going on and why she was being bombarded with presents.  About an hour later and completely exhausted from playing with all of her and my nephews toys we sat down to enjoy breakfast.  Being that it was not only Cheat Day but also Christmas Cheat Day I was determined to make it count.  I started with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and scallop potato's all jammed onto an English muffin or two ;)  I finished breakfast of with an extra large mimosa and a healthy slice of poppy seed lemon pound cake.

I went from my Christmas feast to the airport to jump on my Virgin America flight to San Francisco but not before stopping by Starbucks for a large orange juice and a chicken cheddar ciabatta.  I gotta say it was pretty delicious, like I've said before they really have some decent food options.  I jumped on the Virgin flight but unfortunately passed out three minutes into it and I didn't even get a chance to eat.

We landed in San Francisco and went straight to my other family for Christmas dinner.  We had a Middle Eastern inspired dinner complete with lamb and rice, mixed eggplant dish and accompanied by my favorite mint chutney sauce.  The best part of the meal came in the form of desert which consisted of a vast array of sweets including caramel chocolate apples, chocolate cake, biscotti and last but not least a traditional middle eastern desert made up of ground carrots, milk and sugar called gadja halva....AMAZING.

I'm pretty sure Ill be able to squeeze one more meal in before bed time, come tomorrow its back to the diet and back to the grind.  I hope everyone had an amazing day, happy dieting!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday from The Cheat Day Diet...

Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season.  Im just getting ready to finish up a day that has taken me all over Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Brentwood and then down to Orange County for some family time.  I'm headed to San Francisco in the morning for a couple days of business/pleasure which will no doubt include coverage of some eateries in Northern California.
I spent the majority of my day yesterday at Stout Burgers and Beers Studio City going over the plans and making sure everything was in order.  Starting Monday we have our big push to open by mid February 2012.  I decided to grab something to eat and checked out Eggplant next door to us.  From the outside it looks really small and somewhat plain but once you get inside its very well laid out and quite charming.  There was actually quite a few good low carb options on the menu.  I started with an eggplant appetizer it was a deliciously prepared eggplant sliced into spears...Winner!  I then moved on to the Garlic chicken and the Lemon chicken.  Both of these dishes tasted quite good although the garlic was noticeably more flavorful.  On another positive note the servings were really quite large and you could easily split one between two people.
There are so many interesting little spots around that area I cant wait to try them all...Have a great night everyone, talk soon.

The cheat day Diet takes Brentwood...Lovely Low Carb Options!

Next time your in Brentwood and in need of a healthy, fresh meal make sure to take a trip to A Votre Sante.   Its nestled right in the middle of Brentwood at 13018 San Vicente Blvd.  When I say there is an abundance of options for every diet plan I really really mean it.  Vegan, Low Carb, Organic, and low fat options abound at this amazing eatery.  I ordered the Chicken Asparagus minus the rice, it was not only a very generous portion but also delicious.  Everyone that was with me seemed equally enthused with their meals which included Turkey Chili, Salmon Tacos, and Free Range Turkey Bolognese.  Im also extremely enthused to report that they made me my decaf latte so I didn't even need to make a follow up trip to Starbucks.  I would highly highly recommend this location, service was great and the prices were reasonable.  I'm going to include a link to their menu just so you can get a look at the offerings at this healthy wonderland.  Okay, well back to work, talk to you guys soon...Happy dieting!

Options for The Cheat Day Diet when stuck in Beverly Hills for the day.

So today I was in Beverly Hills for a large part of the day.  I had lunch with a friend, a client meeting, and finally coffee with a potential investor.  With that being said here is how I stuck to my Low Carb Diet while walking the streets of Beverly Hills.

I found myself first at Il Pastaio.  This is a comfortable venue on the corner of Canon and Brighton Way.  there is not a huge amount of seating inside but they have provided additional seating on two substantial patio areas.  We managed to get a seat without waiting and sat down at a well appointed all be it shaky table.  I ordered the Lenticchie salad which was a delicious blend of arugula, lentils, and shrimp with a wonderful lemon, olive oil dressing.  This was a perfect meal for the diet, substantial enough to leave me satisfied and very very tasty.  the net carbs on this meal are extremely low with a fair amount of protein.

I left Il Pastaio and wandered around Beverly Hills as I had 30 minutes until my client meeting.  The whole area never ceases to amaze and interest me, it might be the greatest people watching in the entire world.  I finished my client meeting and walked over to the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.  I have to say that this particular Coffee Bean in Beverly Hills is absolutely beautiful with an amazing outdoor area and ample seating.  I ordered my typical decaf latte and sat and discussed Stout Burgers and Beers with a potential investor for the better part of an hour.  I'm still not sure If I have a preference between Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf and Starbucks strictly from a beverage perspective but I do prefer the food and snack options at Starbucks.  Next time you find yourself in Beverly Hills in need of a low carb option I would highly recommend Il Pastaio.  Okay well back to work so I can finish up and get some sleep.  I have to get back to the gym tomorrow in the am.  Have a wonderful night everyone and good luck tomorrow on your Cheat Day Diet.

Trying to open up two new Stout Burgers and Beers = 16 hour work days....

So today was a pretty easy diet day considering I didnt have more than 20 minutes at all during the entire 16 hour day to eat.  In fact my day consisted of running from one meeting till another starting at 8am and ending with me dragging myself through my front door at 12:11am.  I ran from one bar to another and from one Stout to the other two construction sites.  I filled the spare moments in my day jumping on the phone with clients and even managed to pick up a Christmas present for the lady.  I made my customary Starbucks trip and enjoyed my decaf latte immensely.  My Low Carb diet today consisted of primarily Muscle Milk Lights and chicken from a couple of different sources.  I missed out on my vegetable juice simply because I didnt have the time to get over there and get one.   Okay time for me to jump on Virgin America and book my flight to Texas....Have a great night everyone, talk soon.

Broke the 200 pound mark on The Cheat Day Diet.......

Woke up this morning and weighed myself. I was shocked to see 199.7 pounds. This kind of shocked me especially after last weeks gluttony in New York City. I'm heading down to San Diego now for an engagement party and a feast at C Level restaurant. I just got word this morning that I'll be heading back to New York City next week and San Francico. It's going to be a crazy week full of Power Crunch bars and Virgin America flights.

I think the veggie juice and ginger every day might be helping to step up the fat burning. It definitely helps to curb the appetite. This week I'm going to step up the water consumption and try to get in the gym every day. Talk to everyone soon, happy Cheat Day.

On Virgin America Half Way back from NYC and Two Cheat Days

Im currently on the flight back from NYC and indulging in whatever menu choices Virgin America has to offer.  So far Ive eaten a "hearty" pack which included crackers, cheese, salami, some type of biscotti, and fruit snacks.  then just for good measure some type of egg salad wrap which was actually really really good.  It was a great trip, two days of glorious eating including meals at Eataly, The Darby, Dean and Delucca, and Abe and Arthurs.  Made a couple of Starbucks trips and had a peppermint holiday coffee drink instead of my typical low carb beverage.  We met with two investment groups regarding Stout Burgers and Beers and even managed to meet with a TV executive for a reality Pitch meeting.  NYC was an amazing place that Ill be sure to visit again hopefully very soon.  Okay, time for more Virgin America entertainment....Talk to you soon.

Flying out to NYC tonight...Going to check out the Low Carb fare in the Big Apple

Running around like a lunatic trying to get ready for the red eye to NYC tonight.  I hit the gym up early every day this week knowing that once I get out there its going to be very difficult to squeeze that in.  The Low Carb diet has been pretty perfect consisting primarily of Stout Burgers and Beers arugula salad and chicken patties.  I'm still trying to figure out how the Starbucks non fat decaf picks me up....It must be just the placebo of coffee.  Okay everyone about to head out and grab a kale, lemmon, ginger, spinach juice and get to packing.  I will post some picks of NYC and the culinary adventure as it occurs, this will be a cheat day to remember.

Low Carbs with a Twist...Getting ready for my NYC trip and an extended Cheat Day

So the diet continues to move along well.  I have two new recruits following the diet who approached me on Saturday wondering what type of diet I was on and asking if I could help them out.  I told both of them to consume everything that they wanted on Sunday and get ready for a system shock the rest of the week.  Both of the guys did a great job following the diet today and were enthusiastic at the gym this evening.  I will keep you updated as to their progress and hopefully get testimonials from them as they start to see results.  I will also publish the diets that I gave them as people have been asking me on a regular basis for a list of foods that they should eat.  Today has been a great day so far energy levels are high and the workouts continue to be productive.  Looks like I will be stuck in the office all night trying to get ready for my trip to NYC time for a decaf nonfat latte reward from Starbucks....Talk to you guys soon.

Back from Thanksgiving...Back on the Low Carbs....Double Cheat Day

Back to Los Angeles after a trip to Central Florida.  I have to be honest my cheat day ran into a double Cheat Day as I had to have leftovers on Friday however on a positive note I managed to get to the gym twice over the holiday weekend.  My weight today was down to the lowest I can remember,  it made me think that once a month I may take the entire weekend to consume high carbs and keep my metabolism in high gear.  I got right back on track today consuming salads, fresh vegetables, fresh vegetable juice and some organic chicken.  Finished the night with my Starbucks decaf latte and a handful of almonds.  Also just wanted to say hello to my new readers in Bejing, glad to have you onboard.  Have a wonderful night.

Still On The Low Carb Train But Missed My Cheat Day

So here I am back to the blog.  Ive been doing a pretty good job on the diet, eating very very low carbs with the majority of my food intake coming from raw vegetable and non processed proteins.  Ive been so busy with Stout Burgers and Beers that I actually missed my last cheat day.  I spent the whole day running around trying to take care of business, next thing I know its 8pm and all Ive eaten is some brown rice, juiced vegetables and a couple of chicken patties.
Ill make sure to get back on my daily postings and let you guys know how the diet is proceeding.  Have a great night.

Salad...Salad....and More Salad

Just finishing up another day on The Cheat Day Diet.  Started with a Mucsle Milk and some almonds.  From there I had three different meetings at three different restaurants and thus three different salads.  I had a chop salad at one spot hold the dressing.  A Chinese chicken salad at another spot, and finally a roasted veggie with chicken breast at the last one.  All in all it was a great day for the diet and I managed to squeeze in two Veggie juices.  I didnt make it to the gym but at least I got my hour yoga class in which was particularly strenuous today.  Okay time to get some sleep and get ready for the weekend.  Have a safe and happy Halloween everyone.

Starbucks...Stout....Wholefoods....Birds

So today my low carb odyssey contained edibles purchased at no fewer than 4 restaurants, coffee shops and grocery stores.  I started my morning with a Muscle Milk and then promptly went to Starbucks to get my decaf coffee and my almonds.  Ran around and took care of some business with my next meal being a chicken and quinoa patty at Stout Burgers and Beers.  I took care of some more business before running into the gym for an hour and then grabbing dinner at Birds, an amazing little restaurant on Franklin near to Beachwood.  I had a half chicken all white meat with a double side of steamed vegetables.  Back to the office for a couple of hours and then a salad from Wholefoods containing spinach, cucumbers, chicken, sunflower seeds, broccoli, and artichoke hearts.  12:30 and im about to call it a day.....a long long day.  See you guys tomorrow.

The Cheat Day Diet in Full Effect.....Starting to Notice Results

I finished up another week on The Cheat Day Diet and I can honestly say its starting to show.  I probably heard on three or more occasions this weekend that I looked like I had lost weight.  I was also at a birthday party and happy to see that I definitely looked thinner in the pictures.  Im sure that the addition of extra vegetables specifically all of the juicing is having a really positive effect.  Had a fun day today and squeezed in some very enjoyable meals.  I had chicken tacos which were amazing, and went to Jamba Juice and got one of their delicious smoothies.  I also went to Starbucks and had one of their egg white and turkey bacon muffins.  I have to say that it was amazing, not something that I would eat during the week because of the carbs but still a healthy quick option.  Well back to work, finishing up a lease for Stout Burgers and Beers!!!!  Part III coming soon.

The Cheat Day Diet goes RAW

Cant even begin to explain what a crazy couple days its been.  Ive been up at 7 and coming home every night around 10 pm., and even with this schedule my to do list grows longer every day!  The Studio City Stout Burgers and Beers continues to come together and downtown and Santa Monica appear to be coming more of a reality on a daily basis.  With all the craziness the last couple of days its no wonder that eating has become a lessor priority.  Today I found myself sitting at 4pm trying to grab my first bite of the day.  Unfortunately for me no sooner had I sat down than an irate client called demanding to meet with me!  I survived the day sustained by only a couple of large green salads 2 chicken breasts a bag of raw almonds split through the day and my trusty vegetable juice.  Today I redefined low carb dieting with literally the only carbs I consumed being in the form of vegetables and almonds.  This is exactly the type of day that The Cheat Day Diet was created for.  When your simply too busy to eat and the only thing that gets you through the day sometimes is the thought of the stack of pancakes that Im going to consume on Sunday.  Well happy dieting everyone.....Talk soon.

Starbucks vs Coffee Bean for The Cheat Day Diet...Low Carbs with a twist.

Okay so first of all I woke up this morning and saw that my blog had been viewed 13 times since yesterday.  So whoever my readers are, thanks for following my rambling at The Cheat Day Diet its very encouraging.

Had to take a road trip to San Diego this morning and I had to make a decision between Coffee Bean and Starbucks.  This particular blog is concerning the food options as my coffee decision is going to have the same nutritional value at either location.  I went to Coffee Bean first to peruse their low car options.  first thing I noticed was a lack of Kind Bars.  They are one of my favorite snacks, no more than one a day and always first thing in the morning.  The almond variety are relatively low in carbs the majority of the bar consists of almonds and other nuts.  They had a couple of bars called Pure Organic which was a nutritionally sound product but had between 26 and 30 grams of carbs, too many for my low carb  diet.  They also had Knudsen cottage cheese and Greek yogurt prepackaged with sides of fruit.  I suppose in a bind I would but one of these and not eat the fruit sides.   The final item I examined was the Coffee Bean trail mix which I was shocked to see had 50 grams of carbs per serving, simply not an option.

My next stop was Starbucks.  They had the same cottage cheese and yogurt options and to my delight they had a variety of Kind Bars two of which were fairly low in carbs.  Starbucks also had single serving packages of roasted almonds which are a perfect snack for the carb conscious among us. Based on the almonds and the Kind Bars I would have to give the edge to Starbucks although this little comparison made me realize that both establishments could offer another low carb option or three.

Well back to my crazy day scouting for a project in San Diego.  Once again thanks to my readers whoever they might be!

Sunday Funday....Not for me just...Its just Monday part 1

Meetings all day.  Investors, potential investors, landlords, potential landlords, I know it sounds like fun and games right?  All about Stout Burgers and Beers, luckily since I spend so much time here I get to eat lots of arugula and quinoa patties.  Im looking forward to opening the other locations so I can travel around and eat at the various locations.  Made it to the gym and I'm excited to get back to yoga tomorrow. Im going to look into getting one of those commercial grade juicers, I really notice a difference when Im getting those extra veggies in.  Well until tomorrow, have a great night everyone.

Just got back from Universal Studios and lets just say I pretty much ate everything in site.  i started with Dippn Dots ice cream, polished of a pretzel, ate some nachos, and drank a squishee or two.We went on The Mummy Ride (my first time) if you have not been yet its really really fun. Went to Starbucks on the way home and had a Chai Tea Latte, soooooo good not low carb but thats okay for today.  Going to kick back watch a movie and eat some pizza.  Gotta work all day tomorrow on Stout location number 2.  Have a great night everyone.

Making my cheat day Saturday...Heading to Universal Studios!

Heading over to Universal Studios to play tourist and wander around the park eating amusement park food.  This is going to be one heck of a Cheat Day.  I'm really planning on doing some damage on this Cheat Day, hopefully all of the walking around will mitigate the damage I'm about to do.  See you guys later, Simpsons here I come!

Finishing the day st Stout Burgers and Beers

As this day draws to a close I find myself back at Stout Burgers and Beers grabbing my chicken and quinoa patty with avocado on a bed of arugula.  Its crazy at 330am there are still quite a few people here grabbing food after their big night out.  Looks like everyone had a good time!  Well drive safe everyone get some rest its been a long long week.  See you guys bright and early tomorrow.

Back to Starbucks for my Low Carb Breakfast

So I started the day out with my Americana and almonds at Starbucks.  Then 20 minutes sitting in one of the chairs and people watching.  Its really amazing how diverse our country is I truly think that in a few short moments at Starbucks I saw people of every color, shape, and size.  Im convinced its one of the things that make this country so great.  Okay back to the expansion of Stout Burgers and Beers, big meetings today!

Celery kale parsley Lemmon ginger

Yes that's the ingredients i'n my juice that I'm anxiously awaiting. Eating carbs only one day a week leaves me dragging a little and my afternoon juice seems to be the best possible cure. Another low carb day almost i'n the books and one step closer to cheat day which I'm spending at Universal Studios. Can't wait for the Amusement park treats. well back to work and another client trying to wrap the day up with a positive note.

Yoga Low Carbs and Stout Skinny Style

So had another great day today.  Managed to squeeze in two sashimi salads Stout Burgers and Beers skinny style and even a beet, celery, parsley, lemon and ginger fresh squeezed juice.  I also managed to not only do yoga but also crammed in a 45 minute workout.  Another long day as usual but lots of progress on the restaurants so Ill take it.  Also finalized our idea for our new restaurant which will be a Cajun Bistro.  Ill fill in more details over the next couple of weeks as the concept develops.  Have a great night everyone.

Good end to a solid week on The Cheat Day Diet

Went to a local sushi joint and had some hot green tea, miso soup and a sashimi salad.  This was pretty much a perfect ending to the week.  Yoga class at 11am and breakfast scheduled for 8am.   I know I have been threatening this for a while but this week Im going to get some before pics and do a sixteen week before and after, I think I need the little extra motivation to push myself over the top.  Goodnight everyone.

Starbucks and My Low Carb Journey

We have a catered event today at Stout Burgers and Beers.  As usual I'm running around with no time at all to eat so I popped into Starbucks to see what I could grab on the go.  Ended up leaving with a decaf Americano a little half and half and roasted almonds.   Not the most nutritious meal I can imagine but at least keeps me going till I can grab a salad or some veggies at another spot.  they have some interesting pre-packaged goods there now also specifically a protein box that looked promising Ill check next time I have some time.  Will try to get some pics from event, have a great day everyone.

Still doing that Low Carb Diet.

So Ive been pretty consistent with the diet  over the past few months.  Throw in a couple of extra cheat days but nothing too damaging.  I got engaged which was exciting and continue to try to expand my Stout Burgers and Beers chain (by chain I mean one now but a soon to be chain).

I started Yoga two weeks ago which has been amazing and has already alleviated some of my older sports injuries.  Ive cut down the gym to 2-3 days a week but ill get that back up in the next week or so.  I think from a consistency viewpoint The Cheat Day Diet is continuing to allow me to maintain my weight, not feel like I am missing out and enjoy cookies and pizza once in a while!!!!

Tuesday the 22nd The Low Carb Diet With A Twist Continues.....

Back to the gym and back on track with my workouts.  Had a great training session in the wee hours of the morn and then headed to work.  Started my flax seed oil supplementation last night not sure if its a placebo effect but I always feel like I have more energy when I am taking FSO.   I would highly recommend this product to anyone especially if your on a low carb diet of some type.

I can honestly say that my energy levels are high and it seems like the cheat day allows me to function well on this low or no carb diet.  Okay back to this deposition, dont worry its not all work and no play....Vegas this weekend!  Going to shift my cheat day to Saturday instead of Sunday to allow for a couple Grey Goose and soda's......

Sunday the 20th....The Highlight of The Low Carb Week.

Was pretty much perfect all week on my diet.  Back to the gym four days which is where I need to be to really kick the fat burning up to another level.  Ive been making an effort to eat more vegetables, especially in their raw form.  Today was Sunday and so I had to indulge in all types of foods that were not low carb or low anything for that matter.  Started the day out with IHOP pancakes, at least I got the harvest grain ones, and used the sugar free syrup, throw in a large orange juice and top the pancakes with a banana, mmmmmm.
Went to Stout Burgers and Beers and had The Goombah burger, a side of sweet potato fries and a Delerium beer, think this might be the most percect meal ever created.
Decided to pass out instead of going to the gym im really trying to make sure I get adequate rest as I believe it is almost impossible to lose weight and be healthy when your constantly tired.
Woke up and squeezed in a couple of Izzys and a few bowls of Honey Nut Cheerios.  Im sure ill get another meal in before bed not sure what it will be yet but something calorie dense and sweet no doubt.  \
Back to the Low Carb Grind tomorrow, night all.

Monday the 14th the Low Carb Journey is Back on Track

Unfortunately its been a while since my last post.  Ive been hindered by a back injury and then an awful head cold.  Back on track today with a Muscle Milk followed two hours later with a grilled chicken breast and a large green salad.  Because of the injury and the subsequent cold i actually lost weight and got fatter, bad combination.  I have my work cut out for me now!

Sunday, February 13, 2011

Saturday the 12th

So I guess I have to say that life caught up to me over the last 2 weeks.  I caught a nasty cold definitely brought on by 4 hours of sleep a night and a 100 mile daily commute.  I still managed to keep up with the diet although my gym attendance suffered.  Ill get back on track tomorrow with my daily diet record.  looking forward to a cheat day starting with Kings Head British Pub.  Sausage rolls and other British fare beware.  See you guys tomorrow.

Monday the 17th Of the Low Carb Journey

So Monday the 17th of the diet and things are looking up.  My energy is starting to feel pretty good all of the time.  I think maybe my body is getting accustomed to the lack of carbs and compensating accordingly.  I had my first day back at the weights today and it actually felt pretty good.  I think the only thing that I need to really tighten up is my sleep schedule.

8:00am
Meal 1: Muslce Milk light protein shake
             Handful of peanuts.

12:00pm
Meal 2: 5 Boiled egg whites
             Side of broccoli.
             Side of Spinach

3:30pm
Meal 3: 2 grilled chicken breasts.
             Large green salad.
             Cup of decaf tea.

7:00pm
Meal 4: Fage non fat greek yogurt and tablespoon of natural peanut butter.

10:00pm
Meal 5: Large green salad with avocado, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, and grilled chicken breast.

So I managed to get into the gym today for a little over an hour, hit the weights and 20 minutes of cardio.  I drank over my gallon of water and took my multivitamins.  I think things with the diet are kicking in as my body is definitely changing but Im also feeling my energy levels stabilize, and no real flutctuations in energy.  The only thing that i think is missing is sleep its just impossible for me to get the 7 or 8 hours that I think I need.  I am probably getting 4 to 5 hours a night which I know is not enough.  Well back to Long Beach tomorrow, with a little luck I can squeeze a nap in somewhere before the gym.  See you guys tomorrow.

Sunday the 16th...Back On The Low Carb Band Wagon!!!!

So I didnt get a chance to write on Saturday I was too busy eating like a pig and driving around Sonoma sampling wine at every possible opportunity.  Suffice to say that I ate way too much including but not limited to a breakfast burrito, wine, pizza, wine, beef stew, wine, grapefruit(s), wine, a huge sampling of appetizers, wine, massive fruit platter, oh yeah and finished it of with some wine.  So I welcomed Sunday to get back on track.

9:00am
Meal 1: Muscle Milk light chocolate.
             Handful of almonds.

12:00pm
Meal 2: Stout Burgers and Beers arugula salad with avocado, roasted tomatoes and quinoa patty.

3:30pm
Meal 3: Fage nonfat Greek yogurt and tablespoon of natural peanut butter.

7:00pm
Meal 4: White meat chicken and veggies from local Thai restaurant.  I asked them to reduce the oil and not add any additional soy sauce or unnecessary oil.  Did a great job on it and I will definitely be returning when Im hungry and in the neighborhood.

10:00pm
Meal 5: 6egg whites
             Side of turkey sausage.
Heres the kicker, I got the egg whites and the turkey sausage at Denny's.  Pretty funny but they have a new healthy menu where you can pick multiple items and create your own meal.  i give it two thumbs way up.

Back on the low carb bus and happy about it. Felt pretty sick and bloated from Saturdays eating.  The wine was also a little too much and left me feeling groggy.  Anyway got this whole week to get back on track and back to the grind.  Getting my new tattoo on Wednesday so Im pretty pumped about that.  Ill keep you updated. See you in the am.......

Like I said it was just a llloooonnnnnggggg day.  I have some business dealings that just dont want to go away.  Trying to keep all of the projects in place and moving in the right direction, but sometimes like today it just seems like my best efforts are not enough.  I didnt make it into the gym either which also annoys me, crappy feeling that on a 16 hour day you cant find 30 minutes to run into the gym and sweat a little.  Well bed time, hopefully Friday will bring some respite.

The Low Carb Quest in Full swing Wednesday the 12th

Wednesday the 12th was a good day for a number of reasons.  I woke up and I can definitely see a difference from the past couple of weeks.  Weighed in at 208.9 pounds which was a little lighter than I hoped I would be but I guess that is to be expected.  Had a ton of work to do around Hollywood today so I took the day of Long Beach and the chaos that is unraveling down there.  Clients all day and multiple restaurant meetings, at least I would have plenty of opportunities to eat.

8:00am
Meal1: Muscle Milk light chocolate protein drink
            One tablespoon of peanut butter

11:00am
Meal 2: Egg white omelette with mushrooms and Swiss cheese.
Large green salad with balsamic vinaigrette.

3:30pm
Meal 3: Stout Burgers and Beers, arugula salad with avocado, roasted tomatoes and quinoa patty.
             Large cup of decaf tea

7:00pm
Meal 4:  Fage nonfat yogurt with a tablespoon of natural peanut butter

11:00pm
Meal 5: Large green salad with tuna, carrots, spinach, cucumbers, sprouts and balsamic vinaigrette.

Today was a great day for the diet.  I ate pretty much exactly what I planned on, drank over a gallon of water and had an amazing cardio session.  It was a very busy day at the office and at the bars and restaurants, not sure why, maybe the Lakers win had something to do with it.  Im happy that the week is wrapping up as Im flying up North to do some wine tasting on Saturday.  I think Ill have to move my cheat day to Saturday and get back on the low carb bandwagon on Sunday instead of Monday.  Follow me tomorrow on The Quest To Be My Best.......

Tuesday the 11th....Decaf Tea Was a Lifesaver

Was very light on sleep again last night.  Too many things to do not enough hours in the day.  Also I realized that 11 days into the New Years and as much as my diet was going well, I still had not started my Rosetta Stone, this was something I had to remedy tomorrow.  So back and forth again today, but hopefully some of the craziness is drawing to an end as all my leases are in place so now its up to the construction crew, designers, and architects to do their job.

9:30am
Meal 1: 5 Egg whites with swiss cheese and mushrooms.
             One cup of oatmeal.
             Decaf Mint Tea.

12:30:pm
Meal 2: One Muscle Milk light chocolate.
             Handful of almonds.

3:30pm
Meal 3: Large green salad, with broccoli, cucumbers, spinach, carrots and olive oil, lemmon dressing
            One can of albacore tuna.

6:30pm
Meal 4: Fage nonfat yogurt with one tablespoon of natural peanut butter.

10:00pm
Meal 5:  Meeting at CheeseCake Factory.  I had the lettuce wraps and the healthy spicy chicken salad.

All in all I would say it was a good day.  I noticed today that my suit was definitely looser around the waist, I still have not weighed myself so Im not sure exactly what the scale will say but there is no doubt Im starting to drop some fat.  Im going to start weighing myself first thing in the am and keep a record of it so I can see how the weight loss is progressing or not.  Id still like to keep my weight around 210 but just lean up, I noticed if I go much below that I just start to look kind of lanky.  Time to get some rest and be ready for the next day of low carb madness as the Quest to be my best continues.......

Monday the 10th and Back To The Low Carbs!!!!

So its Monday and after an incredible weekend and cheat day of overindulgences I had to get back on the low carb bandwagon.  I knew this was going to be a busy week and I had a lot to get done before heading to Sonoma for the Winter Wine Festival.  Multiple trips back and forth from Long Beach to Hollywood today would definitely not leave much time for eating or preparation of meals so I had to get a little creative to stay on point with the diet.

7:30am
Meal 1: 5 Boiled Egg whites
            One cup of decaf tea.
I found that the little coffee shop next to my new restaurant sells hard boiled eggs.  This was a great find and now I can grab some boiled eggs on the go.  Its called Its a Grind.

12:00pm
Meal 2: 2 Grilled Chicken Breasts
Large Greek salad with olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, and olive oil and lemmon dressing.

3:30pm
Meal 3: Stout Burgers and Beers time!!!!!
Quinoa patty with arugula salad, avocado, roasted tomatoes, and lemmon, olive oil dressing.

7:00pm
Meal 4: Fage non fat yogurt with natural peanut butter.

10:00pm
Meal 5: Muscle Milk light chocolate protein drink.
             Handful of raw peanuts.

Wrapped up another crazy day and night.  2:30am and still have a proposal to finish before i can get to bed.  The diet was great today, energy levels high and 45 minutes of cardio felt amazing.  I cant wait to get back to to the weights, hopefully Friday ill get the all clear from the Dr.  Putting together an offer for a new nightclub in Hollywood this week so ill keep you updated on the progress, I think if I can get this under contract Ill have to call it a day on the projects or I am literally going to be down to 3 hours sleep a night.  Tomorrow the Quest to be my Best continues!!!!!!

Sunday the 9th....The Death of The Low Carb Week

Sunday morning finally hit and all I could think about was the things I had been craving all week.  I had no idea what to start with so I wandered through to the kitchen and started rummaging through the closets.  I had my goals for today, they were pizza, some type of Mexican food, and of course stout Burgers and Beer, no skinny style, bun and all!!!!

930am
Meal 1: Large bowl of Captain Crunch cereal with 2% milk
             Large glass of orange juice.
             Grapefruit.

12:00
Meal 2: Turkey sub from Jersey Mike's had to make it the large.
Bag of salt and vinegar potato chips.

3:00
Meal 3: Stout Burgers and Beer, got the Goombah burger.  I cant even tell you whats in it but its delicious
check it out at http://www.stoutburgersandbeers.com/.

7:00
Meal 4: Jerry's Deli, Burrito, fettuccine stroganoff, and pizza. Mmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!

12:00am
Meal 5: Huge bowl of Captain Crunch cereal with 2% milk.

So I would say the second cheat day in my cheat day diet was a huge success.  Well at least it was a success from the standpoint of total food consumed.  If the whole idea is to throw your body for a loop and get your metabolism cooking then today will surely do the trick.  Took the day of the gym because I went every day and thought my body could use a little rest.  gonna try the gym tomorrow even though the Dr. told me to give it another week, lets see how bad an idea this is!  Ok see you guys tomorrow when its back to Low Low Carbs and the Quest to be my best!!!!!!

Saturday the 8th...Last day of Low Carbs

Didnt get a chance to upload this one yesterday and this is the first chance I've had today so heres the report for Saturday.  Started the day early at around 9am.  I had a ton of things to do and meetings planned pretty much all night.  Wanted to make sure I could end the low carb week up on a strong note and get a good cardio workout session in.

9am
Meal 1: One Muscle Milk light chocolate protein shake.
             Handful of almonds.

12:30pm
Meal 2: Stout Burgers and Beer for my Quinoa patty, on a bed of arugula, with avocado and roasted tomatoes

4:00pm
Meal 3: 5 Egg Whites with mushrooms and onions.
             Side of broccoli.
             Side of asparagus.

7:00pm
Meal 4: Fage non-fat yogurt mixed with tablespoon of natural peanut butter.

10:00pm
Meal 5: Yellow tail sashimi.
             Edamame.
             Salad with soy ginger dressing.

So this ended up being a crazy day.  I spent the whole day running around and working.  First the Law Office to deal with some clients, next the restaurant then from bar to bar.  Tried to squeeze in all of my meals and get in my 45 minutes of cardio.  Unfortunately due to an unfortunate key accident I managed to get in an hour and a half cardio workout.  How you might ask?  Well it would be 45 minutes on the treadmill, and then 45 minutes walk home because i lost my key and the only spare was back at my house..  Your probably asking why I didnt take a taxi or call someone, well for some reason I really really underestimated the distance and by the time I had walked 30 minutes it was too late to turn back.  Suffice to say it was an eventful day.  Oh and I got in my gallon of water.

Friday the 7th...2 Days Till Cheat Day...

Friday the 7th woke up and headed back down to Long Beach to work on the new restaurants.  Had to survive on 5 hours sleep again but for some reason I was not as low on energy as before, in fact I was not tired at all today, which was a good thing because the day just ended at 2:00am :)

8:00am
Meal 1: One Muscle Milk light chocolate protein shake
             Handful of almonds.

11:00am
Meal 2: 5 Lean Lamb Chops.
               Green salad with balsamic dressing.
               Small bowl of lentil soup

3:00pm
Meal 3: Stout Burgers and Beers Time
Quinoa patty with fresh avocado, and roatsed tomatoes on top of a bed of organic arugula.

6:30pm
Meal 4: 2 Grilled chicken breasts.
            Side of hummus
            Side salad

10:00pm
Meal 5: 5 Egg white scramble with mushrooms and swiss cheese.
            Side of asparagus.
            Side of Steamed Spinach.

Calling it a day.  Looking forward to actually getting a little sleep tomorrow.  Dont have to wake up till 10 am, 8 glorious hours of sleep.  Still cant really lift weights because of the little back surgery I had and the staples that are still in, but still managed to get into the gym and do 45 minutes of pretty intense cardio.  Not sure why my energy was pretty good today or why it varies from day to day.  One more day of low carbs and then I get to over over indulge in my cheat day.  Any suggestions that you have let me know, I'll be more than happy to eat whatever it is and let you know how delicious it is. Okay g-night guys catch you in the am when the quest to be my best continues......

Thursday the 6th of The Quest To Be My Best

Back to Long Beach and the craziness that is my life.  Working on my projects and trying to get three restaurants opened in the next six months is proving more difficult that I anticipated.  Its been an incredible amount of running around spending hours a day on the California freeways.  On a good note it looks like we may have another person interested in licensing our Stout Burgers and Beers Concept.  There has been quite a few headaches involving our Mexican Cantina project with the latest problem being the discovery that virtually the entire plumbing system will have to be replaced.  Anyway back to the diet and the Quest To Be My Best.....

8:00am
Meal 1: 5 egg whites with Swiss cheese and salsa.
            One cup of oatmeal.
            One cup of decaf tea.

11:00am
Meal 2: Large Greek salad, olives, cucmbers, feta cheese, olive oil and lemmon dressing.
            Chicken breast.

3:00pm
Meal 3: Muscle Milk light chocolate shake.
             Handful of almonds.

6:30pm
Meal 4: 5 Boiled Eggs
Side of spinach, and side of green beans

9:30pm
Meal 5: 5 scrambled egg whites with mushrooms and onions
            Steamed vegetable mix

So wrapping today up, got in my 45 minutes of cardio and drank my gallon of water.  Felt a little bit better than yesterday as far as my energy was concerned.  Took a 45 minute nap during the day and it seemed to really help, I wish I could do that everyday.  This makes me think again how important it is to get the appropriate amount of rest, but as far as my schedule goes thats unlikely for at least the next six months.  Started my twitter account so that i could tweet my low carb meals as I progress throughout the day.  Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday, cant wait for the weekend and my next cheat meal.  Have a great night see you guys in the am.......

Wednesday Of The Cheat Day Diet...Low Carbs Plus Low Sleep=Low Energy

So I have to say that today my energy felt way of.  Im not sure if it was the low carb consumption or if it was the lack of sleep over the past couple of days but the midnight cardio tonight was a real struggle.  Im pretty sure that the minor surgery that I had yesterday did not help either.  So anyway, here we are at 1:00am gotta be up at 7:00am, like I said if I can do this so can you.

7:30am

Meal 2: 5 Boiled egg whites
Large serving of broccoli, and green beans
               One cup of decaf tea

2:30pm Stout baby!!!!!
Meal 3: Arugula salad with Avocado, roasted tomatoes, shaved parmesan cheese and olive oil and lemmon
dressing.
             One quinoa patty.

6:00pm
Meal 4: One Fage non-fat greek Yogurt mixed with natural peanut butter.

9:30pm
Meal 5: One Muscle Milk low carb light chocolate shake.

Im just about to call it a night.  I will have my current pictures up by the end of this week and I will also start
chronicling my weight as the diet progresses.  Going to make sure I remember my multivitamin tomorrow maybe that will help a little with my energy.  If any of you guys have any advice Id love to hear it.  On a good note, the cheat day is still working as far as my cravings go.  I can honestly say I have no real desire to eat anything that is outside of my diet so thats a great sign.  Tomorrow the quest to be my best continues..........

Tuesday the 4th.....Happy Birthday To Me

Woke up this morning to literally 100 notifications of texts, emails, and facebook messages saying Happy birthday, so obviously I started the day with a huge smile and I have not looked back since.  Headed back down to Long Beach to look at the demolition site that is supposed to be my new restaurant.  No wonder the hair on my face is all falling out (alopecia, but thats another story)

Monday the 3rd.....Back to Reality and Back to Low Carbs

Not sure about you guys but today was back to work for me which means there is barely even time to think about eating let along jam my face with unprocessed low carb fare.  Im doing a couple of projects in Long Beach which is about a 45 minute drive from Los Angeles or 1 1/2 hours depending on just how painful the traffic happens to be on any given LA day.  These meals are all quick fix the longest was lunch at Wokano and even with that I was in and out in under 30 minutes.

7:30am
Meal 1:  Muscle Milk protein shake Light chocolate.
Kind Bar, pick these up at Starbucks, they are pretty delicious and fairly low in carbs and calories.

12:00pm
Meal 2:  Had about 20 minutes to grab lunch so I ran into Wokano, Great Sushi place, popping up in
a couple locations around southern California.  Tossed back a miso soup and a sashimi salad.  The
salad was very fresh, with seaweed and an assortment of fresh raw fish, with a little soy dressing.

3:30pm
Meal 3:  Ran back up to Los Angeles for another meeting regarding a bar/lounge in LA.  Stopped by my
burger joint called Stout Burgers and Beers.  You will be hearing a lot about it on here.  Not just
because Im one of the owners but also because Ive made a low carb burger plate there that fits
perfectly into the diet.  Its a bed of arugula, which I top with a quinoa patty, avocado, and tomato.
Its a pretty balanced meal with the nutrition from the arugula and the quinoa.  Quinoa is a very
nutrient dense food which tastes incredible when prepared properly.

7:00pm
Meal 4: Im going to let you guys into another little snack secret of mine.  It tastes amazing and has high
protein and low carbs.  I take a small container of Fave nonfat Greek Yogurt and mix it with a
tablespoon of natural, no sugar added peanut butter.  Im going to start to include the nutritional
info on these meals at least the more popular ones.  This is a great meal because of the high
protein, low carb content.  I also like it because it is a good source of calcium and healthy fats.

10:00pm Gym Time: Of to the gym now.  Im going to train chest and biceps, same format as usual for me
high intensity medium weight, main key for me now is to keep my heartrate up the whole time
because i dont have the time to do cardio as well as weights.  Be back around 11:30 or so then
Ill post my last meal and wrap up my day.

12:30am
Meal 5:  Just got back from the gym and scrambled up 6 egg whites with one yellow, mushrooms and onions,
and topped it of with green tabasco, my personal favorite.

So today was a really good start to the week.  I think yesterdays cheat day gave me tons of energy and stored plenty of carbs for me to start burning.  I drank my full gallon of water with another couple bottles at the gym.  Still trying to figure out my sleeping schedule its the only thing that I cant really figure out due to how hectic my schedule is.  Birthday tomorrow and biopsy surgery on a mole :/ gonna be an interesting day thats for sure, also supposed to be getting lease on my new Stout in Long Beach, Ill keep you updated.

Sunday the 2nd....The First Cheat Day of The Cheat Day Diet.......No Low Carbs Here!

Woke up this morning and started putting everything together for my trip back to Los Angeles.  It was about 8am but since there was so many things that I wanted to eat I decided to start immediately.  I looked over at the minibar and the accompanying junk on the top of it and the first thing that caught my attention was........Chocolate Chip Cookies

8:30am
Meal 1: Chocolate chip cookies, not sure what the brand was but there was 4 servings of 2 cookies each in
the  bag, needless to say within about 20 minutes there was nothing left but a few crumbs, too small
for me to get a good hold of.  I washed this down with an Izzy drink, this is a carbonated drink that is
half fruit juice, half water, and one hundred percent delicious.

11:00am
Meal 2: Had about 30 minutes until i got on the plane and saw a Mexican Place called Burrito 360.  It was
one of those places where you pick your vessel ie a burrito, a bowl, or a salad. Then you pick your
meat, then you pick your flavors.  I opted for a burrito with chicken, spanish rice, guacamole, sour
cream, shredded cheese and salsa, absolutely mouth wateringly good!!!!!!!

2:00pm
Meal 3: Got of the plane and passed out for about two hours.  When I woke up I walked through to the
kitchen and started looking at things that I wanted to eat but had resisted.  The first thing that caught
my eyes was rum and raisin ice cream....mmmmmmmmmm..... so good ater the whole mini tub from
Haagen Dazs i felt pretty sick and lay on the sofa to catch up some emails and other business related
             memos's.

6:00pm
Meal 4: Starting to feel some hunger pains I picked up the delivery menu from Jerry's Deli.  Not sure how
familiar you guys are with this restaurant or the menu but suffice to say its HUGE, like 10 pages
of complete yumminess.  I finally decided on an order of pancakes (had been craving them all week)
followed by an NYC White Pizza ( no tomato sauce, ricotta, and mozzarella cheese)  it was
everything I hoped it would be.

9:00pm
Meal 5: Finally about 9 I started to feel a little hungry again so I jumped in the car and visited the local
Starbucks, pretty easy with two now on every street.  I got a cinnamon scone and a grande chai
             latte.

This was my first recorded Cheat Day of The Cheat Day Diet.  Im pretty happy about how it worked out.  i felt like I ate more or less everything I had been craving all week.  The theory here is that I will have no desire
to eat anything else other than my typical low carb high protein fare for the next six days.  Stay tuned, tomorrow ill let you know if the cravings are gone, as of right now I feel totally satisfied and pretty full.

Saturday the 1st, the low carb quest continues........

Happy New Years Everyone!!!!!!

So after last night and the craziness I had to sleep in.  First meal was not till late and only managed to get three meals in because of this. I was also  a little hungover or a little tired or possibly a little of both.  On a good note I got to the gym again for my cardio.  It was definitely a struggle but still managed to pound out 45 grueling minutes.

1:30pm
Meal 1:  3 Egg white omelette  with mushrooms and swiss cheese
              One cup of decaf tea
              One cup of oatmeal

5:30 pm
Meal 2:  Larger green salad with balsamic vinaigrette
              One grilled chicken breast
              One decaf coffee

9:30 pm
Meal 3:  Crab and avocado salad
              6oz Filet Mignon
              Side of Steamed Spinach

Finished up my gallon of water and got to the gym.  Ready for my cheat day tomorrow when i will get to eat all the carbs I can consume.  Leaving for LA in the morning, been a great time in Vegas but I have to get back to work and back to normalcy.  This was a pretty good diet for the three days i was there, not perfect but at least shows the flexibility of this diet when you can eat in compliance with the diet while dining out for every meal.  Will post pics of myself by the end of this week, its my birthday on Tuesday, 35, the whole motivation behind the diet and the get fit plan.....
